Ozone planning for
unoccupied schools
School IAQ should start with source control, cleaning, maintenance and ventilation. FCY-1 and FCY-3B are considered only as supplemental equipment for controlled, unoccupied periods.
What comes first
US EPA school IAQ guidance presents source management, local exhaust, ventilation, air cleaning and maintenance as an integrated approach. Ozone equipment does not replace ventilation, cleaning, moisture control or pollutant removal.
Planning sequence
Measure effective room volume and HVAC zones; schedule a period with no people or animals; isolate the area and prevent entry; follow the equipment instructions; allow decomposition time; ventilate thoroughly; let the school confirm re-entry under local rules.
